India vs Australia Boxing Day Test Melbourne, Day 4 Updates: India win by eight wickets

India have won the MCG Test by eight wickets and this is their second consecutive win at the venue. What a turnaround from Adelaide. The series is level 1-1 and there is plenty to play for heading into the New Year Test in Sydney. 

WICKETS! Australia are not going down without a fight. Mitchell Starc gets Mayank Agarwal for the second time while Pat Cummins dismisses Cheteshwar Pujara. There are some wobbles in the Indian cricket team but the situation is still under control. India are 23/2, needing 47 runs more to win.

Shubman Gill and Mayank Agarwal have started well as India look to cruise towards the target. India are 13/0, need 57 more to win.

WICKET! R Ashwin gets the final wicket and India will need 70 runs to win the match. Australia all out for 200.

Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc continue the frustration for the Indian bowlers. The first session has been extended by 30 minutes and India will be hoping to take a wicket before the lunch break. Australia are 200/9, lead by 69 runs.

WICKET! Another one for Mohammed Siraj and India near the win. Nathan Lyon edges it to Rishabh Pant and Australia are 185/9, lead by just 54 runs.

The lead for Australia has reached 50 but if they have to challenge India, they must get the lead to over 150. Very tall task and at the moment, it is highly unlikely.

WICKET! That is all it one feels on Australia's resistance. Cameron Green, who was looking so good, falls for 45 and his vigil is done. Mohammed Siraj gets the big wicket and it is a very sfot dismissal. Australia are 177/8, led by 46 runs.

WICKET! Trust Jasprit Bumrah to take the wicket and put the new ball to great effect. He bangs in the bouncer and it skids off the wicket and the ball loops up to the slips where Agarwal takes a brilliant catch. Australia are 156/7, lead is only 25.

The partnership between Cameron Green and Pat Cummins has gone past fifty. The second new ball is now been taken. Expect Jasprit Bumrah to bowl at full tilt now. Australia 149/6, lead by 18 runs.

Pat Cummins and Cameron Green have somehow negotiated the first three overs of the morning with very little discomfort. The pair are looking solid and India will be hoping that they can knock over this stand and the tail in quick succession. Australia are 137/6, leading by six runs.

A warm welcome to day 4 of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia from the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India only need four wickets to get back on level terms with Australia. They would be hoping to polish off the tail as soon as possible and clinch a famous win.
