The young Indian team, captained by Shubman Gill, suffered a 13-run defeat in the opening game of the five-match T20I series. Eager to redeem themselves, the team will be facing Sikandar Raza's Zimbabwe once again at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Zimbabwe's captain, Sikandar Raza, led his team to victory with a stellar performance, taking 3-25. The Zimbabwean team displayed great energy in their bowling and fielding efforts, stunning the newly crowned T20 World Cup champions. Tendai Chatara also shone with figures of 3-16, while Wellington Masakadza and Blessing Muzarabani each took a wicket as India was bowled out for 102 runs in 19.5 overs.
Despite wrist spinner Ravi Bishnoi's impressive figures of 4-13 in four overs, Zimbabwe managed to score 115-9 in their 20 overs. This total proved to be enough as it became the lowest T20 total successfully defended in Harare, ending India's 12-match unbeaten streak.
