Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians defeated David Warner’s Delhi Capitals in another nail biting last ball finish of IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday (April 11). Batting first Delhi Capitals did not get a great start as opener Prithvi Shaw again departed early at the score of 15. Six batters from the DC side again went with a single digit score as they lost wickets in clusters in the middle overs. Skipper David Warner was again seen struggling to take up his strike rate as he got dismissed after scoring a slow half century. He managed to get 51 off 47 balls. Axar Patel was the X-Factor for the Delhi side as the southpaw scored 54 off just 25 balls and helped his team post a total of 172 after the end of 20 overs. For MI both Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff took 3 wickets each.
Chasing the total of 172 MI got a good start as the first wicket fell well after 71 runs. MI skipper Rohit Sharma finally managed to score a half century after 24 IPL innings, he was the highest scorer from his side before he was dismissed for 65 off 45. Tilak Verma’s 49 off 21 almost took MI through but DC pacer 2 wickets in 2 balls changed the whole mood in the 16th over. It all came down to the last over when MI needed 5 off 6 balls and Anrich Nortje showed his masterclass but couldn't save his team from losing yet another match in the IPL 2023 and the search for win continues for the Capitals
