It seems the IPL fever isn't over just yet. On the first day of international cricket's return, the fans of Kings XI Punjab felt heartbroken by not one but two match-winning contributions.
India's 66-run pasting by Australia came on the back of skipper Aaron Finch's century, a quickfire century by Steve Smith and a four-wicket haul by Adam Zampa. However, it was Glenn Maxwell, whose 18-ball 45 gave the required impetus to the Australian innings.
Maxwell, who had a very poor IPL by his standards, scored just 108 runs in 13 innings with just one 30-plus score. He didn't hit a single six in the whole tournament.
The script was similar for New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham as well. The charismatic all-rounder, who is more famous for his social media game than the on-field starred in both on Friday night.
After leaking runs while bowling, Neesham blasted Windies bowlers and ended up with an unbeaten 48 off 24 balls, striking at 200 and won the game for his side, when they were chasing 176 in 16 overs.
Similar to Maxwell, Neesham too had an indifferent IPL as he made just 19 runs in the five games he played and took just two wickets going at over 9 runs per over.
Fans were quick to point out this sudden and drastic change in forms of both the players as it took them and the likes of Steve Smith and Finch as well, just one game in their national colours to dust off the IPL rust.
The users also were of view that their Kings XI skipper KL Rahul, behind the stumps wouldn't have been happy with what happened on Friday.
As, if this kind of form from both of them had been seen in the IPL, the fortunes of KXIP could have been very different.
Responding to the hilarious meme shared by a fan, Neesham tagged his friend Maxwell from across the continent. Maxwell replied it saying he apologised to KL Rahul about the same.
