Mushfiqur Rahim issues apology for losing cool at teammate Nasum Ahmed during Bangabandhu T20 Cup

In a bizarre turn of events, Bangladesh star Mushfiqur Rahim was seen almost hitting his teammate Nasum Ahmed during Bangabandhu T20 Cup. While he eventually decided against it, Mushfiqur Rahim was then seen scolding Nasum before the other players intervened.

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who was leading Dhaka, has now issued an apology for his disgraceful behaviour on the field during the match between Beximco Dhaka and Fortune Barishal. 

The incident took place on the final ball of the 17th over. The Barishal needed 45 runs off 19 balls with five wickets in hand and Afif Hossain was looking good. Hossain tried to make some room for himself while facing Shafiqul Islam. However, the left-arm pacer smartly changed his line and the batsman could only miscue his shot behind the stumps.

While it was clearly Nasum’s catch who was standing at short fine leg and was seen shaping for the catch, Mushfiqur Rahim was also seen running around 10 yards from his position to take the catch. However, while taking the catch, he bumped into Nasum and lost his cool thereafter.

Nasum could be seen in fear and the scenes did not look good in the middle. It was a crucial wicket and the teammates tried to cheer up Nasum and even tried to calm down Mushfiqur Rahim.

Soon after the incident, the short-tempered skipper was widely criticised by fans and experts. They expressed their surprise over the way the senior player threatened the junior cricketer.

After receiving criticism, Mushfiqur Rahim finally broke his silence and issued an apology. He took to Facebook to post a picture of himself sitting with Nasum and stated that he had apologised to his teammate.

"First of all officially I would like to apologize to all my fans and spectators regarding the incident that happened yesterday during the match. I have already apologized after the game to my fellow teammate Nasum," wrote Mushfiqur Rahim.

"Secondly I seek forgiveness from Almighty. I always remember I am a human being above all and the gesture that I have shown was not acceptable at all. In shaa Allah in near future I promise it won’t be repeated on the ground or outside the ground," he added.
