Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team have conceded three consecutive opening stands for the first time in their history.

Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team achieved an unwanted record in the Sydney ODI as David Warner and Aaron Finch stitched a 100-run opening stand.

The Sydney ODI against the Australian cricket team was the 978th ODI for the Indian cricket team in their history. Ever since they started playing ODIs from the 1975 World Cup, the Indian cricket team have become a force to reckon with, having won the ICC Cricket World Cup two times, the ICC Champions Trophy two times and the ICC World T20 once. However, in the ODI on Sunday, Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team achieved an unwanted record for the first time in their ODI history. David Warner and Aaron Finch continued their great form as they stitched a 100-run stand for the opening wicket after opting to bat.

David Warner and Aaron Finch notched up their fifth 100-plus opening stand against India in ODIs and it is the most by any Australian duo against India in ODIs. However, the Indian cricket team achieved an unwanted record for the first time in their 978-ODI history.

This was the first time in their history that they have conceded an opening partnership of over 100 in three consecutive ODIs. In the third and final ODI against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui, Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls stitched a brilliant 106-run partnership as New Zealand managed to clean-sweep India 3-0. In the Sydney ODI against Australia, David Warner and Aaron Finch notched up 156 runs for the opening wicket.

Dominance continues in Sydney

David Warner and Aaron Finch continued their domination against India as both players notched up fifties in grand style as the partnership laid the base for another huge total by Australia in the second ODI. Warner missed out in the first ODI but in the second, the left-hander looks good for a big score.

Aaron Finch, who smashed a century in the first game, fell for 60 as Mohammed Shami broke the 142-run stand to give the Indian cricket team some respite. However, David Warner is looking in great touch and Australia will be aiming to bat India out of the game as they look to seal a series win against Virat Kohli’s team for the first time in over a year.
