New Zealand ended their international home summer on the perfect high with their sixth consecutive win in Tests at home. After beating India and the West Indies 2-0, it was the turn of Pakistan to be blown away by the discipline of the New Zealand pacers in their home turf as they lost the final Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch by an innings and 176 runs. This was a huge blow for Pakistan as they won only one game in their entire tour which also included three Twenty20 Internationals. The win confirmed New Zealand as the No.1 ranked Test side in the world. For Pakistan, it was more misery as they failed to win any of their overseas trips to England and New Zealand as far as the ICC World Test Championship is concerned.

New Zealand are now in contention for a spot in the final of the ICC World Test Championship that will be played in Lord's in June 2021. Kyle Jamieson was the star of the New Zealand bowling line-up as he ended with 11 wickets in the match to notch up his maiden 10-wicket haul in Tests. Jamieson ripped through the Pakistan batting and it complimented the earlier efforts of Kane Williamson who hit a fantastic 238 and shared a record 369-run stand with Henry Nicholls for the fourth wicket. It was their partnership and the match-killing century by Daryl Mitchell which helped New Zealand establish their dominance over Pakistan as they secured their third consecutive series win against Pakistan.
