India vs Australia T20: 5 things we learned from T20I series before 'Big Test' begins

Virat Kohli will be the most important player in the Test series. The Indian captain played a superlative knock in the final T20I giving India an edge before the Test-series. Virat Kohli has already scored runs down under on previous tours. The Indian captain now better and hungrier- this hunger and desire to dominate will be India's rallying factor in the series. We don't usually associate spin with any series down under. However, the land of Shane Warne may see some good spinners on show this tour. Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya proved India's key players in the T20I series and R Ashwin could be the difference maker in the long format. Even India were troubled by Adam Zampa's spin making him Australia’s best player for the series. India have the best chance of winning a Test series in Australia in forever this time. However, it won't be a cakewalk. Australia have shown that they are re-gaining the confidence and they will not go down without a fight. In the T20I series, they presented a credible challenge despite limited resources. Much have been said and written about the Australian team's new 'attitude'. It is mind-boggling to see that it is India who are being considered the more agressive side. The question before the series was whether it will be calmer than previous encounters or the heat will rise up soon. It has been all good so far. It was intense on the field but casual off it. One of the biggest crtiques of Virat Kohli's captaincy has been his constant chopping and changing of the playing XI. However, in the T20I series, India played with the same combination in all three matches. Kohli backed players who were not having a great day was rewarded for it- best exemplified in the case of Krunal Pandya. Kohli should do the same in the Test series- Australia is difficult puzzle and India may not get in a first try. But if Virat backs his players it will be much easier. (Image: PTI)
