'14 years ago, it all started': Virat Kohli shares iconic moments of his career in viral Instagram reel

Virat Kohli completed 14 years of his playing career on August 18, and on the occasion he took a trip down the memory lane.

14 years ago, it was on this particular date, a lean and lanky boy named Virat Kohli made his Team India debut aged 19. Little did he know at the time that he would go on to redefine modern cricket, and etch his name in the folklore of Indian cricket history. 

After completing 14 years since his debut, Kohli took a trip down memory lane on Thursday as he shared a reel on Instagram, featuring some of the most iconic moments from his illustrious career. 

Taking to Instagram, Kohli wrote, "14 years ago, it all started and it's been an honour," alongside an Indian flag, while sharing the reel. In the video, fans can see glimpses of a young Kohli, his iconic image as he sat alongside Sachin Tendulkar while India celebrated the 2011 ODI World Cup win.

There was also a snap wherein the talismanic batter was kissing the ICC Champions Trophy, and plenty more iconic moments from his trophy-laden career.

Notably, Virat made his debut in an ODI game against Sri Lanka at Dambulla, but he couldn't leave a lasting impression as his stay at the crease was cut short by Nuwan Kulasekara who dismissed him after scoring just 12 runs. 

He has since gone on to score over 23,000 runs in international cricket, including 70 centuries, shattering numerous records along the way.

Meanwhile, Kohli's IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also wished the star batsman on the occasion of him completing 14 years since his debut.

RCB took to Twitter to share a 14-second video which showed some of the most iconic performances of Kohli, as well his incredible stats in the 50-overs format. 

"Virat Kohli’s ODI record speaks for itself. Drop a (heart) to congratulate @imVkohli on 14 brilliant years in ODI cricket. Many more to come!" read the tweet. 

Meanwhile, the Delhi-born batsman has been a break from cricket for a while, but he is all set to return during the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2022 match against Pakistan on August 28.
