With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auction all set to take place on February 18, Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun made sure to grab some attention with his performance.
In the tournament conducted under the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) - which was also the first cricket competition in the city since the lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic - Arjun Tendulkar scored unbeaten 77-run knock off 31 balls followed by a 3-wicket haul.
He helped his team MIG Cricket Club defeat Islam Gymkhana by 194 runs in second-round Group-A match at the Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2020-2021 on Sunday.
Arjun hit five boundaries and eight sixes during his stint. He picked off-spinner Hashir Dafedar as he kept hitting the bowler for five sixes in one over.
Besides Arjun, opener Kevin D'Almeida (96 runs), and no.4. batsman Pragnesh Kandillewar's century knock (112 runs), also played significantly in MIG's massive victory.
As for the clash, electing to bat first, MIG scored a mammoth 385 runs for 7 wickets in 45 overs. Islam Gymkhana, on the other hand, were bundled out for 191 on 41.5 overs.
Mihir Agarwal top-scored with a composed 77 runs and Praful Waghela helped with his 57 runs knock. Ankush Jaiswal (3/31) and Shreyas Gurav (3/34) along with Arjun shared the wickets.
As for the IPL, the left-arm pacer has been shortlisted in the final list of 292 players, who are set to go under the hammer in the upcoming auction.
The uncapped 21-year old Mumbai-born player had registered himself at the base price of INR 20 Lakhs.
Arjun who has played for Mumbai in various age group competitions also took part in the Mumbai T20 League in 2019 and has travelled with the Indian team for England tour in the past, as a net bowler.
