West Indies bowled Bangladesh out for a mere 43 runs on the opening day of tehir 1st Test at Antigua.

West Indies bowled Bangladesh out for 43 runs in 18.4 overs during their ongoing first Test at Antigua on Wednesday.

It was also the joint-sixth lowest Test total in the history of Test cricket.

Here is the list of top 10 lowest Test totals:

Team Score Overs Opposition Date
New Zealand 26 27 England 25 Mar 1955
South Africa 30 18.4x5 England 13 Feb 1896
South Africa 30 12.3 England 14 Jun 1924
South Africa 35 22.4x5 England 1 Apr 1899
South Africa 36 23.2 Australia 12 Feb 1932
Australia 36 23 England 29 May 1902
New Zealand 42 39 Australia 29 Mar 1946
Australia 42 37.3x4 England 10 Feb 1888
India 42 17 England 20 Jun 1974
South Africa 43 28.2x4 England 25 Mar 1889
Bangladesh 43 18.4 West Indies 4 Jul 2018

Kemar Roach, in the first nine overs, clinched a spectacular five-wicket haul as he dismissed Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah as the visiting side stooped down to 18 for 5 in 8.5 overs.

In the next 25 runs, the duo of West Indian skipper Jason Holder and Miguel Cummins cleaned up the rest of the Bangladeshi line-up to hand them a record they will regret for a very long time.

Bangladesh’s previous lowest Test total was 62 all out which they had made against Sri Lanka in 2007 at PSS Colombo. Bangladesh’s 43 also was the lowest Test total since India’s 42 in 1974 and joint-sixth lowest total in the history of Test cricket.

Apart from one, the other 10 batsmen scored in a single digit, which included four duck outs. Bangladesh’s opening batsman Liton Das was their top-scorer with 25 runs off 53 balls and the next best knock came from Rubel Hossain’s six runs off 10 balls.

Having dropped below the Bangladeshis in the Test rankings to number nine, there is additional incentive for Jason Holder's team to win the series which begins in Antigua and move back up to number eight at the expense of their Asian opponents.
