For the past few months, there has been a lot of reports about Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin leaving the Indian Premier League (IPL) side for next season.
The spin bowler also removed the franchise's name from his Twitter bio, sending a clear sign of his exit from the team.
Previously, Ashwin's bio read, "Professional cricketer - represent the Indian cricket team, Tamil Nadu and Kings 11 Punjab. Sarcasm and optimism my forte.". But now the "Kings 11 Punjab" part has been removed.
According to numerous reports, Ashwin is set to join Delhi Capitals for the 2020 IPL season after Kings XI Punjab agreed to release their last two season's captain.
Ashwin joined KXIP for RS. 7.6 crores in 2018 and led the side in 28 matches and had 25 wickets. But under his leadership, the franchise finished seventh and sixth in IPL 2018 and 2019.
If all the rumors are believed, KL Rahul is expected to be appointed as the new skipper of the Kings XI Punjab for the upcoming season. The Delhi franchise currently has Shreyas Iyer as their captain.
Ashwin is currently part of Team India's squad which is taking on South Africa in a three-match Test series in India.
