India and Pakistan will meet on Sunday for the second time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018. As the two arch-rivals faced each other on Wednesday after a long time, the fans of both teams were gripped by the cricket fever.
The match saw a good fight though India won the match easily by 8 wickets.
While the match saw many interesting moments on field it was a Pakistan cricket fan who became the biggest talking point after a video of him singing the national anthem of India went viral/
In the video, Adil Taj holding Pakistan national flag can be seen singing 'Jana Gana Mana' passionately while recording it in his camera.
Taj said that he was inspired by the respect shown by Indian fans towards the Pakistan national anthem.
“Some Indian fans were sitting with us in our enclosure. When our national anthem was played, I saw how they stood in respect and also clapped for it,” said Adil while talking about the incident on September 19.
"I was humbled by the respect Indians showed when our (Pakistan) anthem was being played so I thought that I should also make a small gesture from my side."
He also told India Today that he had memorised the national anthem while watching Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham'.
He now plans to carry the national flags of both India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday and cheering for both the teams.
“I sang Pakistan anthem tried my best when Indian anthem was played. Pakistan fans listened to it respectfully. It was a small gesture towards peace…Plan on carrying both flags tomorrow,” he said.
India take on Pakistan in the Super 4 stage on Sunday. With both teams winning their first Super 4 matches, they could clash in the final as well.
