Virat Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to achieve a sensational record in ODI cricket during the India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2023.

Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli once again showcased his dominance over the Pakistan cricket team, delivering a flawless half-century in the thrilling Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This remarkable achievement saw the right-handed batter match the legendary Ricky Ponting's record for the most 50+ scores in One-day cricket, an impressive feat of 112.

In the 39th over of the innings, Kohli, the former Indian captain, reached this significant milestone, courtesy of a brilliant shot off the leg-spinner Shadab Khan. This remarkable accomplishment marked his 66th half-century in ODI cricket, solidifying his position as one of the game's greatest players. Notably, this match also witnessed KL Rahul joining Kohli in the century club, making it the fourth instance where the top four batters achieved 50+ scores in this format.

Furthermore, the 34-year-old maestro's love affair with the Colombo venue continued to flourish, as he had previously achieved outstanding scores of 128*, 131, and 110*. 

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has achieved a remarkable milestone in ODI cricket by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record. At the age of 34, Kohli has become the fastest player to reach 13,000 runs in ODI cricket, accomplishing this feat in just 267 innings. Previously, the world record was held by the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved this milestone in 321 innings. However, Kohli's exceptional performance against Pakistan allowed him to shatter the existing record and claim this sensational achievement.

It is worth noting that Australia's cricketing great, Ricky Ponting, ranks third on the list, having taken 341 innings to score 13,000 ODI runs.
