Boria Majumdar has been banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a period of two years after the three-member committee set up by BCCI found him guilty of threatening Wriddhiman Saha.
Majumdar had threatened Saha after the latter denied doing an interview with him, following which the scribe came up with some harsh words for the veteran wicket-keeper batter, who then shared the screenshot of the chat with the journalist, after which the matter came out in public.
There was a huge furore as any former cricketers even urged Saha to come out and name the person in public, and the BCCI had responded by forming a three-member committee to investigate the matter.

Earlier Saha, who is a BCCI centrally contracted player, had shared screenshots of his chat with a journalist, on February 23, who threatened the former for not doing an interview with him.
"After all of my contributions to Indian cricket...this is what I face from a so-called "Respected" journalist! This is where the journalism has gone," wrote Saha in a series of tweets. The said journalist then accused Saha for doctoring the Whatsapp screenshots.

The BCCI subsequently formed a three-member panel comprising vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia to probe Saha's allegation.
According to the BCCI's letter sent to its members, Majumdar's ban includes -
- Banned from getting accreditation as a member of the press in any match (domestic or international) in India
- Banned from getting any interviews with registered players in India
- Banned from access to any of BCCI or member association-owned cricket facilities.
