Indian cricketer Shradul Thakur's parents were injured when their motorcycle met with an accident in the Palghar district in Mumbai, police said on Wednesday.
The incident happened hours after Shardul was picked by the selectors for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
The fast bowler's parents were heading towards Mahim village in district, when their two-wheeler skidded off the Kelwa-Mahim road, an official at the Palghar police station said.
Some repair work was underway on the road where they met with the accident, he said.
As per local reports, Shardul's parent were taken to Dr Dhawale Charitable Hospital following the accident and later his father Narendra Thakur was shifted to Leelavati Hospital when a brain clot was detected.
The 26-year-old pacer, who hails from Palghar, is currently playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.
Shardul rushed to visit his parents and his participation in the next game in the IPL, where he represents Chennai Super Kings, is in doubt.
CSK play Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Friday. It is still unclear whether Thakur will be part of the squad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. CSK sit second in the IPL table – two points behind leaders Sunrisers Hyderabad – with seven wins in 10 matches.
