Legendary India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is nicknamed Captain Cool for his world famous calmness. But that does not mean that the CSK captain can be taken for a ride. A good example of this was once shared by Dhoni’s India teammate.
The incident dates back from 2014. India were playing a test match against New Zealand with IPL legend Brendon McCullum playing a memorable 302 run innings. India pacer Mohammed Shami revealed how he was left frustrated by the Kiwi batting. McCullum had been dropped on 14 and then went on to score a triple century.
A frustrated Shami ended up bowling a bouncer right before lunch. The ball even went above Dhoni who did not take it well. He told Shami while heading back to the dressing room, “I know the catch was dropped but you should have bowled the last ball properly”. Shami replied saying the ball slipped out of his hands. Then came Dhoni’s epic and intense reply.
“Dekh beta, bohot log aaye mere saamne. Bohot log khel ke chale gaye jhut mat bol,” Shami had said.
“Bete tumhare senior hain tumhare captain hain hum. Ye bewakoof kisi aur ko banana ( Mahi bhai said in a strict way, I have seen a lot of players come and go, don't lie to me. He further said, don't try to fool your captain)" Shami had revealed.
