The cricketer used Croatia's performance at FIFA World Cup 2018 to slam the reports of conflicts between members of Hindu and Muslim communities in the country.
Taking to Twitter, Harbhajan Singh said that while Croatia, which has a population of just around 50 lakh, is playing the FIFA World Cup final, while we in India, with a population of 135 crore, are playing “Hindu Muslim”.
He used a hashtag ‘soch badlo desh badlega (change your thinking, the country will change)’ to drive across the point.
Croatia finished runners up at the World Cup 2018 as France won 4-2 in a high-octane final at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Sunday.
Croatia, a nation that came into existance in 1991, made its World Cup debut in 1998. They had reached the semifinal that year.
This year, Croatia upset England 2-1 in FIFA World Cup semifinal to storm into the finals of the biggest sporting extravaganza.
Croatia beat Nigeria in their first Group D match and later defeted Lionel Messi's Argentina and Iceland. In round of 16, Croatia won against Denmark on penalties. They then stormed into semis by defeating Russia 4-3 on penalties in the quarterfinal clash.
