Former India captain Rahul Dravid has reportedly been approached by KKR management to replace Gambhir as the franchise's mentor in next year’s IPL.

After Gambhir’s rejoined the franchise as a mentor for this year’s IPL, KKR registered their third IPL win after beating SRH by 8 wickets.

However, it would leave a big void to fill in case Gambhir takes the new role of coaching India.

According to a report by News 18 Bangla, Dravid, who recently concluded his tenure as head coach after India clinched the second T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados, is the top candidate to replace Gambhir as mentor.

The report also claims that several IPL franchises are also interested in having Dravid as their coach or mentor for the 2025 season.

As India beat South Africa in the World Cup final on June 29, Dravid while speaking to reporters joked about being unemployed soon.

Under his tenure, Team India reached the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2023, ODI World Cup 2023, and T20 World Cup 2024.

After India's heartbreaking loss in the ODI World Cup 2023 final, Rahul was about to conclude his coaching duties. But he revealed that India captain Rohit Sharma urged him to extend his tenure till T20 World Cup 2024.
