Ever since Iyer was brought into the lineup, the Mumbai cricketer has always found a way to perform for the 'Men In Blue' with the bat.

Team India batsman Shreyas Iyer has expressed his thoughts on how he is happy to bat any position for the national side.

"In this situation, you should be ready to bat at any number because it is really important to play in the team, (considering) the competition which we have now right now," Iyer told reporters ahead of Friday's (January 17) 2nd ODI between India and Australia.

The 'Men in Blue' absolutely got outclassed by an inform Aussie side who cruised to a 10-wicket win, courtesy of a record-breaking 258-run partnership for the first wicket between Aaron Finch and David Warner.

"We can’t give any reasons of batting at any particular number. Yes, it is really important for us to be focused and not to cry about why we haven’t been batting at a similar position."

"Experimentation is something we are looking forward to. Hopefully, we will get a good number for each batsman."

"This is the time we should try and experiment things and hopefully it will work-out in the future," he added.

Ever since Iyer was brought into the lineup, the Mumbai cricketer has always found a way to perform for the 'Men In Blue' with the bat.

The Indian management has been experimenting with different personnel for that spot ever since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. But are still yet to come up with a fixed name.

Iyer has been able to provide India with a proper balance while batting at no.4, however, only time will tell when he ends up in the pecking order when the 2020 T20I World Cup team selection happens.

Batting first on Friday, India managed to hoist a target of 341 runs from their allocated 50 overs for Australia to chase down thanks to some electrifying hitting from Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in Rajkot.
