Team India take on Bangladesh tonight (November 3) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in their first of three T20I matches of the series.
The nation's capital currently has very poor air quality and the pollution level is also severe which has brought up fresh doubts in the minds of BCCI stubbornness about whether to go forward with the match or not.
Since the morning (November 3), the entire city has been covered with thick smog with the Air Quality Index labelling it into the hazardous category.
The AQI levels in Delhi did hit 473 at 9 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, making the air quality into ‘severe’ category.
Due to this "very poor" pollution conditions in Delhi, BCCI has received a lot of criticism for making the nation's capital host a cricket match without taking health factors into considerations.
However, the match referee will make the final after he consults with the umpires after 6.30 pm.
The match is scheduled to start from 7 PM but officials are in hopes that the conditions will improve from the evening.
“The visibility in the morning was very very poor. But conditions have improved now and hopefully, it will be better in the evening. Now the match referee will decide. We are carrying on with our preparations,” said a DDCA official.
