The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the transfer of captaincy duties within the Indian cricket team. Star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has taken over as the new T20I captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma.

Following his successful leadership during India's T20 World Cup victory, Rohit Sharma will resume his role in the One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Additionally, Virat Kohli will be making his return to the fifty-over format.

In a significant development, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer made their return to white-ball cricket for the first time in 2024.

Following his leadership in India's impressive 4-1 victory over Zimbabwe in the recent T20Is, Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain for both the T20 and ODI squads for the upcoming Sri Lanka series.

The Indian cricket team is scheduled to compete in a series consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs. The T20I matches will be held in Pallekele, commencing on July 27th and concluding on July 30th. Following the T20Is, the ODIs will take place in Colombo, beginning on August 2nd.
