India crushed England by 203 runs in the second Test at Trent Bridge on Wednesday. India going into the fifth and final day of the match were just a wicket away from a superb victory and they needed less than three overs to end the match.
India, who were trailing 0-2 going into the third Test now have widely opened the series at 1-2 with two more games left in the ongoing series.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the wicket-taker on Wednesday who dismissed James Anderson on the fifth ball of the 105th over.
Earlier, it was revealed that Alastair Cook might not play the fourth Test at Southampton next week as he may go on paternity leave. Cook and his wife, Alice, are expecting their third child and Alice is likely to go in labour around the start of the match, on August 30.
When England toured Bangladesh for the 2016-17 tour, Cook had joined the squad late so that he could attend the birth of his second daughter, Isobel. The couple's first, Elsie, was born in 2014.
If he misses the fourth Test, that will bring an end to his world-record succession of 157 Test appearances.
