Tim Paine registered his first win as the captain as Australia defeated India by 146 runs in the second Test in Perth on Tuesday.
The four-Test Border-Gavaskar series has wide opened as the hosts have equalised the series at 1-1 with the next match set to be played on Boxing Day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
While it was a great result for the Aussie skipper, his counterpart Virat Kohli, unfortunately, ended up with an ordinary record.
He equalled former legendary Indian skipper MAK Pataudi but in a record that could hurt him for a while.
India have now lost nine Tests under the captaincy of Kohli while chasing a target in the fourth innings of a Test - that is the joint most under any Indian captain alongside late Pataudi.
In the first Test, Virat Kohli's side became the first-ever Indian touring side to win the opening match on an Australian tour.
However, the fairytale beginning of the series has turned into a forgettable record with their loss in the second Test, which was their seventh loss of the year in an overseas Test.
India's loss in the Perth Test was also India's seventh overseas defeat this year - the most number of Tests India have lost overseas in a calendar year, surpassing their previous record of six, which happened in 2014.
Australia had scored 326 runs in their first innings, and India replied with 283 runs, thanks to Virat Kohli's 25th Test hundred, thus conceding a lead of 43 runs. The hosts scored 243 runs in their second innings to post a 287-run target.
