The India-England four-match Test series has now become a much-awaited series as the results will have much more consequences than just decising the winner of the series. This will be India's first home Test series since the two-match series against Bangladesh in November 2019 and the hosts will be on cloud nine after a 2-1 heist against Australia on their home soil.

However, with Australia-South Africa Test series now being postponed the importance of the series increases multifolds as New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Lord's. Three teams, India, Australia and England are still in contention, which is why not just the two teams involved, Australia too have much at stake from the four-match showdown starting in Chennai on Friday.

Chennai will mostly see five hot and humid days starting Friday. The maximum temperature will hover around 30 degrees celsius, while the minimum will be around 21-22 degrees. The sun will be out the whole day for the first three days at least, while the Chennai sky could see a bit of clouds in the last two days of the Test match.

There have been 11 drawn games and the remaining seven have been won by the visiting sides. India last played a Test at the very stadium was against England only and India beat the tourists comprehensively by an innings and 75 runs in December 2016.
