India finally won a toss and skipper Virat Kohli made a revelation that the side was handing debuts to a couple of players, who in the last two years have taken the world by storm in the shortest format. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, both of whom played for the defending champions Mumbai Indians, were named in the squad for the T20Is against England.
After a loss in the first game, the home side made a couple of changes as the duo replaced Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel in the line-up.
Kishan, who amassed 516 runs for MI in their tournament-winning campaign also hit the most number of sixes in the tournament than any other player. Suryakumar, on the other hand, scored 480 runs as the two playing at No 3 and No 4 for the Mumbai side were two of the main reasons why they went on to win the championship. The duo made their mark in the recently concluded domestic tournaments as well, playing for their respective sides.
Both of them were praised by the cricketers, experts and fans alike for their ability to hit from the first ball and able to shift the momentum of the game into their side's favour with their big-hitting prowess and being able to finish the games.
As expected, the cricketing fraternity was excited and over the moon as SKY and Ishan made their first appearances for their country. From Wasim Jaffer to Michael Vaughan and to many users on Twitter, people couldn't contain their excitement.
