Team India was struggling again batting first as they lost their fifth wicket at the score of just 86 runs within 15 overs. Apart from skipper Virat Kohli, no other batsman could offer anything of note as they were in a deep hole. The top-order had no answer to Mark Wood's pace as they weren't able to negotiate the same.
Wood's seering pace, like in the first game posed a big problem for the Indian batsmen as they failed to adjust to the same and lost their wickets. KL Rahul was the first casualty as his poor run continued. He was bowled for a four-ball duck by Wood's pace.
Wood then sent back Rohit Sharma in his next over to reduce India to 20/2. If that wasn't enough, the second game's hero Ishan Kishan went back in the next over of Chris Jordan as India were in all sorts of trouble in the powerplay itself.
Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli combined to rebuild and take India's innings to safer shores, however, Pant's innings was cut short due to a horrible mix-up between the two and he was run-out. Soon after Shreyas Iyer too didn't add much and was removed by Wood again in his third dismissal of the night.
India were reduced to 87/5 in just 15 overs as they needed something special to get to a respectable total.
