Shubman came in as the replacement of opener KL Rahul.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selected Shubman Gill in the 15-man squad for India's upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa on Thursday and the player took to Twitter to express his feelings.

In his post, Gill said how honored he feels to be finally representing his nation for the first team and wearing the Team India colors, regardless of the fact if it the blue or the white shirt.

"Be it blue or white. It's always an honor to represent my country," Gill tweeted on Thursday.

Shubman earned his debut Test call up as the replacement of opener KL Rahul, who was dropped after his relatively poor form with the bat during the two-match Test series against West Indies.

Gill has performed exceptionally for the India 'A' side and has been rewarded with the much-awaited call-up. Earlier, the 20-year-old did express his disappointment for not getting selected for any of the three teams traveling for West Indies but his time has finally come now.
