Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Skipper Eoin Morgan said that the wicket looked good and with some dew around, chasing would be a better option.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni said that he would have bowled first as well, as the ball stops initially and the wicket settles down as the game progresses but the toss is uncontrollable and they were ready to do both.

Both teams went unchanged in the big encounter and played with the same team.
