Mumbai Indians picked Arjun Tendulkar in the IPL 2021 auction at his base price of INR 20 Lakh but he didn't feature in any of the matches.

Mumbai Indians announced on Wednesday that left-arm pacer and son of legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to an injury. The five-time champions have roped in Punjab pacer Simrarjeet Singh as his replacement.

Simarjeet, who was part of travelling reserves as part of Team India's squad for the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka in July this year has been part of the Mumbai Indians squad as a net bowler and has been drafted into the main squad.

"Mumbai Indians have added Simarjeet Singh as an injury replacement to Arjun Tendulkar for the remainder of their IPL 2021 season," Mumbai Indians said in a release.

"The right arm medium fast bowler has started training with the team after completing the mandatory quarantine as per IPL guidelines," the release added.

Arjun Tendulkar was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 auction at his base price of INR 20 Lakh but he didn't feature in any of the matches.

Earlier, MI had brought in Gujarat left-arm pacer Roosh Kalaria in place of injured Mohsin Khan.
