The highly anticipated Indian Premier League is set to make its grand return for its 16th edition this summer. Commencing on March 31, the IPL 2023 will be played in its original home and away format, marking the first time since 2019.
Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the IPL was played in the UAE in 2020 and 2021, and in Mumbai in 2022. However, this year, each team will have the opportunity to play seven games at their home ground and seven games away, making for an exciting and evenly matched competition.

Dates
The highly anticipated IPL 2023 season is set to kick off on March 31st with a thrilling opening match between the defending champions, Gujarat Titans, and the formidable Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. The league will culminate with a nail-biting match between Titans and Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 21st in Bangalore.
Fans can look forward to double headers every Saturday and Sunday, adding to the excitement and intensity of the tournament.
Venues
The tournament will be played across 12 venues – Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Guwahati and Dharamshala.
Groups
The ten teams have been divided into two groups for the upcoming tournament.
Group A consists of Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.
Group B includes Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Titans.
Live Streaming Details
Disney+Hotstar will not be streaming live IPL matches, unlike previous seasons. Instead, Viacom 18 has secured the rights to live stream the matches in India by paying a whopping INR 20,500 crore to BCCI. It is important to note that Star Sports network will still be broadcasting the matches live on TV in India.
