IPL vs PSL: Difference between prize money of Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League - Details here

Multan Sultans won their maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) title on Thursday after beating Peshwar Zalmi in the final. Multan side qualified for their first final after defeating the table topper Islamabad United in Qualifier 1 and have been on a rampage after the 6th edition resumed in Abu Dhabi.

 Multan Sultans amassed 206 runs in the final owing to the tournament's consistent run-scorer Sohaib Maqsood's unbeaten knock of 65 runs off 35 balls and Rilee Rossouw's quickfire 21-ball 50-run knock. After which, a complete bowling performance led by ageless leg-spinner Imran Tahir and pacers Shanawaz Dhani, Sohail Tanvir and Imran Khan helped Mutans side defend the mammoth total and they won comfortably by 47 runs.

It was a dream comeback for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side, who were at the bottom of the points table after the first phase of the league held in Karachi.

Along with the fabulous trophy, the franchise also received a hefty paycheck. The winner's prize money was INR 3.5 crore (PKR 75 million). How does it compare to the prize money of the winning team in the Indian Premier League (IPL)?

Due to COVID-19, the prize money in the IPL was reduced by half due to reduced profits, which meant the winning side in the IPL 2021 will get INR 10 crore as the prize money as opposed to the previous amount of INR 20 crore.

The runners-up Peshawar Zalmi received the prize money of INR 1.5 crore, while in the IPL the team finishing second will receive INR 6.25 crore as opposed to the previous amount of INR 12.5 crore.

Similarly, the prize money of individual awards also differs. While the Player of the Tournament, Sohaib Maqsood got INR 14.1 Lakh (PKR 3 million), the Most Valuable Player in the IPL will receive an amount of INR 10 Lakh.

The best batsman and best bowler in the IPL will also receive the same amount of INR 10 Lakh and the best bowler in the PSL, Shahnawaz Dhani received INR 3.75 Lakh (PKR 8,00,000) and the best batsman Sohaib Maqsood got INR 3.75 Lakh (PKR 8,00,000).

The best fielder, Iftikhar Ahmed also received the same amount INR 3.75 lakh (PKR 8,00,000) while the best wicket-keeper, Mohammed Rizwan also received INR 3.75 lakh (PKR 8,00,000).
