Jasprit Bumrah scored 29 runs in a single over - the most runs scored by a batsman in one over in Test history, overtaking Brian Lara's record.
Lara held the previous best tally of 28 runs, however, Bumrah scored 29 runs, while he also collected 6 runs as Extra, which made the over the most expensive one in Test cricket history with 35 runs conceded by Stuart Broad.
It all started when Bumrah pulled the first ball from Stuart Broad in the 84th over for a boundary. It was a top-edge that Crawley very nearly got to, but it evaded him and bounced over the rope. Broad again dug it short and it went high over wicketkeeper Sam Billings' head for five wides.

More agony followed for Broad as Bumrah bludgeoned a full toss over mid-on for another boundary and then got an inside edge to fine leg for another boundary. Bumrah fell while trying to swat Broad over deep square leg, but the ball sailed comfortably for the fourth boundary of the over.
Broad bowled another short ball and Bumrah pulled brilliantly over fine leg for six, giving him the world record for scoring the most runs in an over of Test cricket.
.
Coincidentally Broad had also conceded 6 sixes in an over against Yuvraj Singh back in 2007 at the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup.

Another interesting statistic is that in all three formats of the Gentleman's game, an Indian batsman holds the record for scoring the most runs in a single over. Bumrah scored 35 against Broad at Edgbaston in Tests, while Yuvraj scored 36 runs in T20 cricket against the same bowler.
Meanwhile, two batsmen hold the record for scoring the most runs in an over in ODI cricket. First was South Africa great Herschelle Gibbs, who scored 6 sixes in an over against the Netherlands during 2007 ODI World Cup, while his record was equalled in 2021 by Jaskaran Malhotra, who was born in India, but plays professional cricket for the USA.
