Nottinghamshire wicket-keeper Tom Moores has earned praise from arguably the greatest goalkeeper in the world for his heroics behind the stumps.
The 21-year-old took two stunning catches in his defeat to Yorkshire this week. Moores' reactions behind the wicket were so good that it caught the eye of Manchester United star David de Gea.
The Spain international was tagged in a tweet of Moores' flying efforts. The tweet called Tom Moores the De Gea of cricket. David de Gea reacted with resounding applause in the form of emojis.
Moores told the Nottingham Post that it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to recognition from someone he admires hugely.
"It's certainly not what you expect to see when you check your phone, but it's very nice for sure," he told Nottingham Post. "He's someone who is right at the top of his field. For me, he's definitely the best keeper in the Premier League if not the world."
De Gea is considered by many to be the best in the business, with Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer his closest challenger.
