Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most renowned cricketers globally of all times, and his tenure as the captain of Team India is still remembered and appreciated, despite his retirement. MS Dhoni, who has retired from all forms of cricket except for the IPL, is presently the captain of Chennai Super Kings and makes around Rs 50 crore annually.
Behind the stupendous success of ‘Captain Cool’ is the pivotal role played by his older sister Jayanti Gupta. Dhoni’s family belonged to a middle-class background as his father did a mid-level government job.
Jayanti Gupta is the eldest child of Pan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Devi, and is believed to be 3-4 years older the former Team India skipper.
Since beginning, Jayanti provided immeasurable support to her younger brother when he expressed the wish to become a cricketer and represent his country. She encouraged him to pursue his interest in sports and took a stand for him even when their father was against his decision of Dhoni becoming a cricketer.
Although her brother is the most popular cricketer in the world and has a whopping net worth of over Rs 1000 crore, Jayanti maintains a low profile and tries to stay aloof from the media. She is currently working as an English teacher in a public school in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
While she is married to Gautam Gupta, who is one of Dhoni’s oldest and closest friends from Ranchi. Gautam also played a vital role in Dhoni’s journey and assisted him during his days as a state and district player at the beginning of his career. This was also portrayed in the biopic of Dhoni.
