As the COVID-19 second wave has taken a downward trend and lockdown restrictions are easing across the country, former Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is reported to have travelled to Shimla along with his family and relatives.
According to reports, a total of 12 people, including Dhoni are stationed at a homestay in the Mehli area of Shimla. This is the second time that Dhoni has visited the town in the past three years.
The Chennai Super Kings captain was last in Shimla in 2018 for an ad shoot for a digital payments company which was shot at the scenic Mall Road. The skipper was also seen going around riding on the roads of Shimla, on his favorite automobile, a bike, said in a report by News18.
The Tribune reported that Dhoni and his group might visit Ratnari, an apple belt in the higher reaches of Shimla district, on Sunday.
Meanwhile, thousands are thronging tourist destinations in Himachal Pradesh after the state government relaxed Coronavirus restrictions.
"There are no restrictions on tourists coming to Himachal, but they will have to register online to get a Covid e-pass. The travel industry contributes to 7 per cent of the state's GDP and around 2 crore tourists visit the state every year. The tourism industry suffered huge loss during the pandemic. We have allowed tourists to visit the state, but they will have to follow Covid-19 norms," Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said.
