Kane Williamson was ably assisted by Henry Nicholls, who despite suffering from a calf strain scored a brilliant century. The duo also created history as they strung a 369-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which is the best-ever for the fourth wicket in Tests for New Zealand.

The exploits of Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls has ensured New Zealand have taken a lead in excess of 150 on day 3 of the Test match. A win for New Zealand will ensure that they stay alive in the race for the final of the ICC World Test Championship that will be played in June 2021 at Lord’s. Williamson in top form

Kane Williamson had already reached his century on the second day and this followed up his magnificent run when he smashed 251 against the West Indies in Wellington and hit 129 against Pakistan at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. It was the turn of Henry Nicholls on the third day as he smashed his second ton against Pakistan and it was special for it came in front of his home fans.

Henry Nicholls overcame a calf strain and took the attack to the Pakistan bowlers, who did not help themselves with several dropped chances and missed opportunities.
