Shikhar Dhawan made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for his local side Delhi Daredevils 11 years back.
According to a leading cricket news website, Dhawan is all set to move from Sunrisers Hyderabad to Delhi ahead of the 2019 edition of the IPL.
The report said that Sunrisers are not keen to retain Dhawan and instead are willing to trade him in exchange for Delhi's three players - Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, and Shahbaz Nadeem.
Sunrisers had bought back Dhawan in last year's auction for INR 5.2 crore (approx USD 820,000) and ever since then, there have been rumours that the Indian opening batsman has been unhappy with the price and that has apparently forced Sunrisers to release him.
Since Daredevils had bought the trio of Shankar (INR 3.2 cr), Nadeem (INR 3.2 cr) and Abhishek (INR 55 lakhs) for a total of INR 6.95 crore, Sunrisers would only need to pay the balance amount in cash.
Dhawan's debut season 2008 was his first and last season with Daredevils before he moved to Mumbai for a couple of years and finally arrived in Hyderabad, initially playing for Deccan Chargers for a year before joining Sunrisers in 2013.
Moreover, Dhawan has been the leading run-getter for Sunrisers with 2,768 runs in 91 innings at an average of 35.03 and strike-rate of 125.13. In the IPL 2018, he made 497 runs at 35.50. His strike-rate was 142.82, better than his normal strike-rate of 136.91.
Earlier, there were rumours about Dhawan moving to Mumbai Indians from Sunirsers and if that would have happened, Mumbai would also have the solid opening pair of India - Rohit Sharma, and Dhawan.
