Pakistan vs Sri Lanka: Shadab Khan pledges to donate match fees to people affected by earthquake

In the 5.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Tuesday, at least 22 people were killed and over 200 were left injured.

Photos and video carried by local media showed buildings collapsed, trees uprooted and cracks in roads in Mirpur, a town in PoK. 

Seeing the deadly situation, Pakistani cricketer Shadab Khan has pledged to donate his match fees to the people affectd by the earthquake.

He tweeted saying, "I pledge to donate all my match fees from the #PAKvSL series to the ppl affected by the #earthquake in Pakistan today. Let’s try to help our brothers and sisters in need".

Pakistan are will host Sri Lanka in three one-day internationals and the same number of T20 internationals starting from September 27 in Karachi.

The venue became a topic of discussion after 10 Sri Lankan players had chosen to not to join the series in Pakistan, citing security reasons. 

The players who opted out were -- Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Dinesh Chandimal and Dimuth Karunaratne.

The fear comes after the team were attacked by terrorists believed to be from the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in 2009 near the  Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

That attack left eight people dead and injured seven Sri Lankan players and staff.
