The new head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, is all set to take the reins after the departure of Rahul Dravid last month. Gautam Gambhir, who was appointed as India's head coach on July 9, will begin his stint when India faces Sri Lanka in three T20Is on July 27, 28, and 30, and then in three ODIs on August 2, 4, and 7.
On Thursday, the BCCI announced India’s squad for the Sri Lanka tour. Surya Kumar Yadav was announced as India's captain in the T20Is with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli set to be making their return in the 50-over matches.
Virat Kohli, who is currently in London, with Anushka Sharma and their two kids - Vamika and Akaay, was reportedly supposed to rest for the series but was later announced in the squad.
Now, as per a new report in Cricbuzz, Virat Kohli is comfortable working with Gambhir and the former Indian captain has also clarified this to the BCCI, saying that previous issues would not affect their professional relationships.
For the unversed, both Virat Kohli and Gambhir have often had heated arguments during IPL matches in the past.
However, as per the Cricbuzz report, "Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room. Following the (T20) World Cup final in Barbados, discussions were reportedly held on the matter. Kohli, who, like Gambhir, is from Delhi, assured the concerned parties that he recognises both are working towards the country’s interests and is ready to move on from earlier disagreements."
