Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted a heartfelt tribute to his late mother on Instagram. This touching gesture comes just over two weeks after India's T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies. Jadeja shared a beautiful sketch depicting himself holding the T20 World Cup trophy, with his mother standing proudly by his side.

“Whatever i’m doing on the field.. it’s a tribute to you,” he captioned the post.

In 2005, Jadeja's mother, Lata, passed away when he was just 17 years old. At that time, he was a member of the India Under-19 team that would later go on to win the 2008 World Cup under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.

On 29 June, India, led by Rohit Sharma, emerged victorious in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados, defeating South Africa by seven runs to secure their second title. Despite the team's success, Jadeja's performance in the tournament was below expectations, with only 35 runs and one wicket from eight matches.

Following the T20 World Cup final, the 35-year-old spinner announced his retirement from T20 internationals. Throughout his career, Jadeja played 74 T20Is for India, scoring 515 runs and taking 54 wickets.

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support,” the southpaw wrote on Instagram after the final.
