'Will always be a cricketer': Sreesanth announces retirement from all formats of the game

Sreesanth had earlier this year returned to First-Class cricket in the 2022 Ranji Trophy season.

Former Indian international pacer and IPL star S Sreesanth has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The speedster had earlier this year returned to First-Class cricket in the 2022 Ranji Trophy season.

Sreesanth took to Twitter to announce his retirement, adding that it had been an honour to have represented India on the highest level.

 

 

Sreesanth played 27 Test matches, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India picking up a total of 172 wickets between 2005 and 2011. In the IPL, he represented Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2010, Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011, and Rajasthan Royals in 2013.

A high-voltage cricketer, Sreesanth had some memorable confrontations on the field. One of his most iconic cricketing moments was the catch in the 2007 World T20 final against Pakistan which gave India the title.

In 2013, Sreesanth and two other Rajasthan Royals cricketers were arrested for alleged involvement in a spot-fixing scandal. The pacer made a return to cricket after seven years with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2021.
