The Indian Premier League (IPL) has ended and now all eyes are set on India's tour to Australia which is set to begin late November.
The Indian squad will tour Australia for a two-month-long series featuring four Tests; three ODIs and T20Is. The limited-overs is likely to be held entirely in Sydney and Canberra which will be followed by a four-match Test series.
As the revised squads have been announced, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to share photos of the players 'embracing the new normal'.
BCCI tweeted saying, "#TeamIndia is BACK! Let's embrace the new normal. #AUSvIND".
As per the new squads, Varun Chakravarthy who is reportedly grappling with a shoulder injury which he picked during the IPL 2020 is missing the clash. He has a labrum tear in his shoulder which does not affect his bowling but does hamper his throwing, Indian Express reported. He has now been ruled out of the T20I series and selectors have named T Natarajan as a replacement.
About Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain who had picked up a hamstring injury during his Mumbai Indians' (MI) twin SuperOver clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will be rested for the ODIs and T20Is to regain full fitness. He has been, however, included in India’s Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Indian skipper Virat Kohli too will leave for India after playing the first Test as he is expecting his first child with wife Anushka Sharma.
The Selection Committee has also added Sanju Samson as an additional wicket-keeper to India’s ODI squad.
