WTC Final: With Day 4 washed out, will rain play spoilsport on Day 5 too?

Fans have been calling out ICC for poor planning as the predictions of inclement weather have been there since the playing conditions were announced.

The entire fourth day's play of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final was called off due to rains, which has put the chances of a result in jeopardy.

After almost a full day's play on the third day, the two sides were almost neck-to-neck before New Zealand gained an advantage after openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway stitched a 70-run stand.

But with a forecast of a little better weather over the next two days, we could be in for thrilling 196 overs, if no interruptions take place.

Fans have been calling out ICC for poor planning as the predictions of inclement weather have been there since the playing conditions were announced by the Council almost a month ago.

However, if play is possible on the last two days, everyone is still in hope of a result.

So what will the weather on Day 5 be like? Will rain again not allow play?

The weather in Southampton on June 22 is expected to be cloudy again. As per metoffice.gov.uk, the forecast for rain is very minimal throughout the day and it is likely that may even get uninterrupted play as well on Day 5 and even on the reserve day tomorrow.

"Cloud will slowly break through the morning, and some pleasant afternoon sunny intervals are likely. Otherwise, remaining rather cool under the cloud, with northerly breezes, stronger around Kent coasts. Maximum temperature 18 °C," according to the UK Met Department.
