The pitch at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, where India played their first match against Ireland, has been in the news for its uneven and slow outfield. However, India kicked off their campaign in the marquee tournament on a positive note as they defeated Ireland by eight wickets.

Rohit played a significant role in the match, scoring 52 runs off 37 balls at a strike rate of 140.54 before he got injured and had to retire hurt at the end of the 10th over. The skipper revealed about the injury after the game. 'Yeah, just a little sore (the arm),'

Amid all the criticism, ICC admitted that the pitches 'have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted.'

'T20 Inc and the ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted. The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday's game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches,' ICC stated.

India will enter the match against Pakistan as favorites after winning their opening game, while Pakistan faced a humiliating defeat against the USA in their first match.
