Chris Gayle entered and departed from the field to a huge round of applause with a raised bat as he might have played his last game in WI colours.

West Indies may have been knocked out of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup, but they had a lot to play for in their final game of the tournament against Australia. One, probably two of their legends were playing their last game and the game's result will have a consequence on their journey in the next T20 World Cup, in Australia next year as if they win, they will finish in the top 8 in the world rankings.

Gayle, who hasn't announced it officially entered the field with a round of applause from his teammates, and walked in like the boss he is, with shades on. Gayle smashed two sixes before he chopped onto his stumps on a Pat Cummins delivery as he walked out raising his bat.

Even though he hasn't said anything it seemed like Gayle was playing his last game in West Indies colours, bringing an end to what has been an illustrious career across all three formats, but especially in T20s.

Gayle, a legend in the shortest format of the game has scored 14,321 runs in 453 matches, averaging 36.44 including 87 fifties and 22 centuries.

In international cricket, Gayle has played 78 T20I matches, scoring 1884 runs while amassing 10,480 runs in 301 one-day internationals, with a highest of 215, while in 103 Tests, he  has scored 7,214 runs at an average of over 42 and a highest of 333.

Gayle scored just 15 runs in 9 balls he faced as West Indies got to a rollicking start but their middle-order failed again. Skipper Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell with a few lusty blows helped their side get to a competitive total of 157 runs while hoping to spoil the party of the Australian team.

'Thank you Chris Gayle' started trending as the fans paid their tribute to the legend. Here are some of the reactions:
