During the ongoing India vs Australia Test series not only the action on the field but also the verbal volleys from behind the stumps have grabbed everyone's attention.
Australian skipper Tim Paine has been at forefront of the 'war of words'. After his banters and confrontrations with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Paine had trolled Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for not being selected in the India squads for the ODIs against Australia and New Zealand on Friday when the latter was batting.
On Saturday, Rishabh Pant made sure he returned the favour when Paine came in to bat.
On day 4 of the third Tes match, Paine came to the crease with Australia reeling at 135/5. Pant in his chatter from behind the stumps took shots at the Australian calling him ‘a temporary captain’ and ‘a special guest.’
The banter started immediately after Paine’s arrival at the crease. “Have you ever heard of temporary captain, I am seeing one,” Pant said.
He could also be heard asking the bowler ‘“ to not do anything to get him out, just bowl.”
Umpires were also seen talking to Pant and Indian captain Virat Kohli in the break between the overs.
On day 3, Paine had welcomed Pant at the crease saying “Tell you what big MS is back in the one day squad. Should get this bloke down to Hurricanes.. They need a batter”.
He even said, “Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the kids”.
