Kapil Dev is considered to be one of the best Indian cricketers in the history of the sport, but his daughter has strayed from the sport and decided to pursue a career in Bollywood.

As the ICC World Cup 2023 is approaching, all Indian fans remember the contributions of legendary player Kapil Dev and how he led Team India to victory in 1983. While Kapil Dev is one of the most celebrated cricketers of all time, his daughter Amiya Dev didn’t pursue a career in sports.

While Kapil Dev made strides as a cricketer during his prime, his daughter Amiya has decided to stray from the field of sports and make her own path, leading a career in film. In fact, Amiya has now been part of several Bollywood films, with one which starred Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

Kapil Dev’s daughter Amiya Dev is pursuing a career in the film industry, trying to make it as a movie director. At the young age of 27, Amiya has already worked in several big Bollywood movies, including her cricket legend father’s biopic ‘83’.

Amiya was the assistant director in the movie 83, which was based on the cricket journey of Kapil Dev-led Team India during the 1983 World Cup, and how the Indian legend led the team to victory through his skill and determination.

Amiya Dev made her Bollywood debut in 2019 as part of the directorial crew of Kabir Khan’s 83, and was able to give insightful inputs into the making of the movie, providing unique facts about her father Kapil Dev’s life and his struggle.

During the production days of 83, Kabir Khan appreciated Amiya Dev and other assistant directors through an Instagram post that gave Kapil Dev’s daughter a shout-out, tagging her private Instagram account in the post.

Amiya Dev’s debut in Bollywood – 83 – starred Bollywood superstars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as Kapil Dev and Romi Dev, with other actors in the film including Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Boman Irani.
