Uncapped allrounder Wiaan Mulder made it to South Africa's Test squad for their two-match series against Sri Lanka, beginning on February 13.
The 20-year-old is the only addition to the Proteas side that whitewashed Pakistan 3-0 in their three Test series concluded on January 14.
"Wiaan has been part of our strategic thinking in developing a batting all-rounder for the Test squad for some time," ICC quoted the convenor of selectors Linda Zondi, as saying.
"We never want to rush players back from injury because that can be counter-productive, but he has now had a couple of good weeks of action in the 4-Day Domestic Series. For the same reason we are not going to rush Lungi Ngidi back into international action until he has had the time to gain full match fitness," Zondi said.
Mulder earned the call with his recent first-class appearance for Highveld Lions with an innings of 146 against the VKB Knights. He also featured in the final ODI against Pakistan, finishing with the figures of 1/20 from three overs.
Following is South Africa's Test squad:
Faf du Plessis (c), Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Theunis de Bruyn, Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar, Zubayr Hamza, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Duanne Olivier, Vernon Philander, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn
South Africa and Sri Lanka will begin their Test campaign on February 13 at the Kingsmead in Durban.
