Duleep Trophy final: Bengal's Abhimanyu Easwaran hits 153 for India Red

Bengal cricketer Abhimanyu Easwaran's name is on everyone's lips after his unbelievable knock for India Red to claim a place in the senior side during the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru.

Abhimanyu's 153-run innings helped his side cruise towards the title by constructing a 114-run lead against India Green at stumps at the end of day three on Friday.

India Red secured 345/6 after 116 overs in response to Green’s first innings total of 231 in 72.1 overs.

When play resumed in the morning, opener Abhimanyu led India Red from the front with some fine batting display.

The 24-year-old added five more boundaries to his tally of 11 and formed a critical 101-run partnership for the third wicket with Ankit Kalsi (30).

Soon, Mahipal Lomror (15) came in to bat and added 24 runs with Easwaran before being removed by Ankit Rajpoot (3/77).

Easwaran lost his wicket to Tanveer ul-Haq in the end after India Red successfully completed the chance and extended their lead to 34 runs.

With KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal's poor display with the bat for Team India during the West Indies tour, Easwaran's mature batting display for the Reds definitely makes him one of the top names on the list for the selectors.

Even though India dominated the hosts in the Two match test series, the opening pair still remained one of the key talking points despite winning both the matches.

Both KL and Mayank have been very inconsistent with the bat for the national side, with players like Abhimanyu, Ishan Kishan and Manish Pandey consistently scoring runs, Virat Kohli and Co. may soon decide to switch the lineup and bring some fresh faces in for the upcoming clash against South Africa.
